Are the posted questions getting worse?

I love Wayne's reply there (last page)

My personal favorite is from Sanchin, though I still feel he gave the OP too much.

    You really wanna know?

I thought you would rather be happy with a spoon fed answer.

In case anyone (living under a rock maybe) missed the announcement:

    Microsoft® SQL Server® code-named 'Denali' - Community Technology Preview 1 (CTP1) : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=6a04f16f-f6be-4f92-9c92-f7e5677d91f9

Got a blog post with a couple bits and pieces on it.

*lifts up rock, and cringes away from the sun* I can't get some of these clients off SQL 2k... and now 2k11?

    :crying:

Is this the version that most would call SQL 2011?

It's not officially SQL 20 anything. Code name is Denali, major version is 11. It's been referred to as SQL11 in the past, based on the major version.

What it will be officially named is unknown and will be a marketing decision. It should not be called SQL 2011 at this point.

*lifts up rock, and cringes away from the sun* I can't get some of these clients off SQL 2k...

I know someone who's still forced to work with a 6.5 instance.

I guess they don't have to spend much time testing Microsoft updates, well, at least not SQL related ones.

What OS does that install on? Isn't that just NT 3.51, or is there anything more "recent"?

I have it working on Win 2003. 6.5 was for NT 4 and is not supposed to be supported on later than 2K.

    I haven't tried 2008 as the OS.

Ha! Actually, it was the snake who was selling the apple. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Edited. Decided there was no good point to my post.

What the heck is that? Now we have to have GOOD posts?

If everything on the internet needed a good point, the whole thing would come to a screetching halt.

Not 100% true, but a lot of sites would disappear and network traffic would be greatly reduced.
