So, Boston Threadzians... Wanna Fedex some snow down to Florida for me?I think they have enough. You know, I thought the 12" we got all at once was bad, but they're getting some serious snow. I heard that things are closed because everything is buried and they're running out of places to put it. There are reports of 15-foot piles and they can't pile it up any higher. And guess what's in the forecast through Friday...more snow. Nothing heavy, but given what they have, they certainly don't need any more.
Boston has given the snow removal companies (and cities) their blessing for pushing the rest of the snow into the Boston Harbor (usually a big No-No). They're talking about 72" of snow in the last month, 80" overall. So yeah, it's pretty bad up there.

I am glad our snow melted. Seventy-two inches, I cannot imagine removing that much. They need to get a political convention so all the hot air will melt the snow. 🙂
They will have a big problem when it does melt. We get a couple of feet of snow and it melts, we have flooding.

So in a fit of inspiration this morning, I decided to see if I could pull a global temp table across different instances.
And what do you know... Even using linked servers, I got bubkiss. @=(
"Database name 'tempdb' ignored, referencing object in tempdb."
Apparently it only wants to use the local temp db. I'm heartbroken. Really truly heartbroken. (Well, okay, not so much. I have other ways around this. But I so wanted to be able to cheat...)

Interestingly enough, though, I can "instance hop" by opening an Import Wizard to Instance 1, using a Query with a linked server to Instance 2, and pull the data into Instance 3.
The things I learn by experimenting. Next, when it's not so urgent, I'm going to build a linked server from Instance 3 to Instance 1 and see if I can do the same thing (using the linked server to Instance 2 to pull the data to Instance 3).

I live in a suburb (Newton) that hasn't been hit quite as hard, we probably have 36" on the ground right now (backyard) and the piles by my driveway are a little over 72". We've had at least 4 days in the past month where work was closed because the roads were so bad. A lot of side roads are only plowed to 1 car width which causes a lot of problems. Especially since homeowners are just shoveling into the street.
3 weeks more. Just 3 weeks and it should start warming up. 2 and a half if we're lucky.

I'm ignoring that little bastard for my own sanity. It usually gets warmer around the beginning of March, even if it doesn't hit spring-like weather I'm hoping for above freezing and no more snow.

Here in southern NH we've probably gotten over 40 inches of snow in the last 2.5-3 weeks with another 3-6 inches coming Thursday/Friday. Currently probably only about 36 inches on the ground just because it does settle some. Definitely running out of places to put the snow in my yard and my plow guy hasn't done a great job pushing it back so he has room the next time. Need to get my plow truck fixed so I can do the work again because I'm not in a rush to get to the next driveway.
Like Shiv said, hopefully in 2-3 weeks we'll start being above freezing on a regular basis so the snow starts melting. We definitely need some slow melt days before we start getting rain or we'll all need boats to get to work. According to MSN weather the average high here in February is 38F and we aren't supposed to get to that for another 10 days. This weekend is isn't even supposed to get out of the teens, which wouldn't be bad in C, but sucks in F.
What really sucks is baseball starts up in the next month and if we don't get some serious melting and warm, windy days to dry out we won't be on the fields up here until mid to late April and will have a compressed season. Which sucks because my son has the potential to be playing on 3 teams this spring.

Thanks for blowing that to the East. It warmed up quite nicely today to about the same thing. The temp is supposed to drop later this afternoon and a high of something like 14F tomorrow.

You can have it back. It is supposed to be below freezing for the next week. Would be fine if we had mountains but cold here is just cold. Nothing fun to do outside. We don't even get snow most of the time, just bitter cold and ice.
