Have you checked out the QotD yet?

    Yes.

Saw your response on the thread. Probably could have used more detail on the hardware to support a failure corrupting the mdf and backup file only, but how much detail do yo really what to write? I thought I gave enough, mdf file corrupt, able to do a tail log backup. Discover when attempt to restore the latest full backup the the file was corrupt. What do you do now? Will the scenerio provided work to bring you back to the the time of the failure.

Several people obviously didn't read the question saying the right answer would use the Teusday full backup and the 8 am wednesday diff backup and then all subsequent t-log backups.

Another said the most recent diff was stll the one taken at 8 am Wednesday. hope they weren't DBA's.

I thought the question had adequate information, was well thought out and is obviously difficult. And since you said the tail backup was successful - then it should be understood that the failure wasn't too severe. I was just thinking out loud.

I think the only emoticon I'd want to actually use at work would be 🙁

But a password full of these would be interesting. With the occasional ROFL, LOL or SOM!

Those would be great to include in a password.

The use of ascii characters (symbols) would also be good.
