Thanks Eric. Happycat nailed it. I had to add the user to the msdb and add the user to the msdb SQLAgentOperator Role.

Thanks for responding. Its a remote stack of drives managed by a 3rd party utility. It's on the same fiber backbone as the SQL server
box.
