Thanks for your time SQLBill. So I have to do this in every query, for every table. That is going to be a nightmare for the developers. Can I write the code you suggested in the view definition? That way, the developers can jsut use the view name not worrying about the if? Thanks

Detaching and reattaching files sounds very disruptive to your production users. I would go with an option that has little or no disruption. Do you do your backup/copy/restore manually? If so, have you considered scheduling the activities to happen overnight. I'm assuming you do a backup anyway, so the additional processing time is the copy […]

On the Repl-LogReader job agent step 2 run agent under advance retry attempts I change this to 10 to mirror production, this seems to have elevated the problem of the agent just failing out altogether. Yes, you could do that as a job in SQL Server. I suppose the questions are how big are these tables and why go through the contortions to create the indexes nightly? Dr. Peter Venkman: Generally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance. Patrick
